3 things Klopp must do to turn the Reds fortunes around #Klopp #Turn #Reds039 #Fortunes Welcome to BLOG 50MIND SHere’s the latest broadcast news and trends we’ve got for you today: :
Liverpool’s situation is not ideal at the moment. Two draws and a loss after three games is not the start Jurgen Klopp would have preferred or even expected.
Due to a winless start to the 2022-23 season, title contenders Manchester City are now five points ahead of Liverpool. The Reds were beaten 2-1 by their fiercest rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night. The Reds put in a lackluster performance from the opening whistle to the final buzzer that hardly merited anything.
They are unrecognizable from the team of the previous season that gave Man City a genuine challenge for the title, winning two domestic cup competitions and reaching the Champions League final. Klopp must make some risky decisions to motivate his side against Bournemouth on Saturday as title aspirations are already beginning to dwindle.
1. Start Fabinho in today’s game
Fabinho has been a vital part of Liverpool’s midfield for the past three years and fans would expect him to feature against Manchester United. But since that wasn’t the case, no one could understand Jurgen Klopp’s choice to bench Fabinho unless he suffered an injury or improved something during training.
Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Harvey Elliot were the core midfield trio against Manchester United and while they were able to hold the ball for long periods, they never helped Liverpool take control of the game. Their passing lacked precision.
So starting Fabinho against Bournemouth is really a no-brainer as the Brazilian is adept at controlling the midfield with his attacking and passing abilities.
2. Request a new midfielder from the board
Liverpool’s midfield is largely made up of only the bare essentials. The likes of Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out through injury and Jordan Henderson and James Milner featured during the loss to Manchester United.
The biggest weaknesses of Klopp’s team were not addressed by any of the three reinforcements of the Reds. The need for a central midfielder continues to grow due to the increasing number of injuries in this area of the pitch.
As the transfer market enters its final week, Klopp must insist on bringing in a new midfielder to solve his squad’s woes and convince the club’s American owners that they are facing less of a crisis.
3. Run games quickly
Anyone who has followed Liverpool faithfully over the past three or four years knows how they like to start games. However, the Merseysiders seem to be in decline so far this season.
Slow starts, especially away from home, haven’t helped their cause. Liverpool struggled to establish any type of tempo or rhythm against Fulham and Man United and ended up paying a heavy price for it.
Whether it’s due to faith, attention, complacency, or a general lack of effort—perhaps a combination of all three—it needs to be addressed quickly. If anything, it’s hard to imagine Klopp needing to scream in protest to his Liverpool team to make the games go faster, but here we are.
