A man took a kidney from an Uber driver and put him on dialysis

NEWARK, Delaware — Bill Sumiel needed a kidney.

She also needed an Uber because her center had to pick her up from her home in Salem, NJ.

On the way to the dialysis center, he and his driver talked about Sumiel’s problems.

At the end of the car ride, Uber driver Tim Letts offered her a kidney, saying, “God put him in his car that day.”

They became a match.

It was too much of a coincidence for Sumiel, who said it was God’s intervention to put the two in the same car when they needed it most.

A year after surgery, Sumiel is doing well and is in intensive care at the University of Delaware Renal Rehabilitation Center.

Letts lives in Germany and is still close friends with Sumiel, whose life he saved.
