A small plane made an emergency landing in the southbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Road near Bolingbrook on Tuesday afternoon.
Surveillance cameras said the plane landed on the right shoulder of the road, blocking traffic as emergency crews arrived at the plane.
Illinois State Police were called to the scene just before 2:00 p.m. They said the plane did not hit any vehicles or fixed objects and came to rest on the right shoulder of the road.
The pilot was not injured and the Bolingbrook Fire Department said there were no additional passengers on board.
Traffic is currently closed near Boughton Road, with stops and starts signaling through the Boughton Toll Plaza, according to Total Traffic.
Bolingbrook officials confirmed the plane was en route to Brookridge Airfield near Darien when it lost power.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating the crash, and Bolingbrook officials said they had been in contact with the National Transportation Safety Board.
