Amazon is testing a new subscription service for users in India. The new subscription, called Prime Lite, is currently available in beta for a limited number of Prime members nationwide. Although Prime Lite offers similar benefits and services to Amazon Prime, there is one major difference. Users will not be able to access Amazon Prime Music with the new Prime Lite subscription. Other differences include free EMIs, free e-books or access to Prime Gaming apps.

It may be recalled that Amazon revised the cost of Prime membership in India in December 2021 and increased it by 50%. The basic annual membership has been increased to Rs. 1,499 after a hike of Rs. 500% more than previous price of Rs. 999. Meanwhile, the monthly price increased by almost 39% to Rs.179 from Rs. 129, while Amazon Prime’s quarterly plan grew by over 39% to Rs. 329 from 459 rubles.
