Anne Heche is taken off life support

It was confirmed on Sunday that Anne Heche had been taken off life support after doctors found a suitable recipient for her organs.

A spokesman said: “Anne Heche has been peacefully taken off life support.”

Heche has been brain dead for the past nine days after suffering severe burns and lung damage in a car crash in Los Angeles.

The late actress was already declared brain dead on Friday, but was kept on life support to preserve her organs while medics tried to find a suitable recipient.

According to an official statement Friday, Heche was already classified as dead under California law.

The statement read: “While Anne is legally dead under California law, her heart is still beating and she has not been taken off life support in order for One Legacy to see if she is suitable for organ donation.”

However, TMZ reported that several of Heche’s organs were harvested on Sunday. Details of which organs were removed or how many were unknown at this time.

The LAPD dropped the case

The Los Angeles Police Department suspected Hech of being under the influence when she crashed her Mini Cooper into a home in Mar Vista.

After her death, law enforcement officials announced they were dropping the crime investigation.
