Patrick Kane appeared on NBC Sports Chicago after the 2nd period against Tampa Bay

The Blackhawks announced early in the third period against Tampa Bay on Tuesday that Patrick Kane would not return to the game. The team called it a medical upgrade, so it’s injury-related.

Kane recorded two shots on goal and 12:57 of ice time over two periods before being ejected. He leads the Blackhawks with 27 points this season.

I don’t know if this is related, but Kane took a hit to the right leg from San Jose Sharks forward Evgeni Svechnikov late in Sunday’s game that saw him writhing on the bench. He thought he would be “fine” until he was checked by the training staff.

Stay tuned for an update from Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson after the game.
