Brahmastra Part Two teased in post-credit, trilogy planned to release by 2028
Brahmastra has just opened in theaters and the second installment has been teased in its post-credits scene, but when could it be released worldwide?
With an estimated budget of over 410 million rupees, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
However, this is not a stand-alone title, as such an expensive production deserves to have an entire universe built around it – and that is exactly what is planned.
In the final moments of the recently released Brahmastra Part One – Shiva, there was a big tease that a sequel would be made; here’s everything die-hard fans need to know about the second installment of Brahmastra.
The second part of Brahmastra confirmed in the post-credits scene
In the post-credits scene of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, the second film was teased as Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev.
“Amitabh Bachchan made a comment that suggested that although everything is fine now, there are some forces that are arising, like the reincarnation of ‘Dev’, Shiva’s father in the film, played by Ranbir Kapoor.” – ABP Live.
However, for those fans who watched the film’s controversial production, the confirmation of a sequel was not surprising, given that producer Karan Johar revealed in 2017 how it would be a trilogy of films.
“Dharma Productions is proud to announce one of its most ambitious films, Ayan Mukerji’s directorial venture We embark on a journey into the realm of fantasy adventure series that will be a trilogy. Fox Star Studios and Namit Malhotra are partnering with us on this exciting journey” – Karan Johar, via Twitter.
In an interview with Variety, director Ayan Mukerji explained that Part One “is not an end in itself, but a means to a greater end. We have the second and third installments coming up, we have the potential to really push the narrative in a lot of different directions beyond ‘Brahmastra,’ and there’s no way we’re going to do that on the scale that I’m hoping for unless our audience base grows.”
“So that’s definitely part of the ambition. Let’s start with strong baby steps with the first part. I think we’ve come a long way with that because over time we’ve been able to get Disney to focus their attention on the film, help us push the release a little bit wider, and hopefully it can bring in bigger and wider returns. us.” – Ayan Mukerji, via Variety.
Rumors of new main characters
After the confirmation that the second Brahmastra film will be released, rumors started doing the rounds online that Ranveer Singh and Hrithik Roshan have been approached to play the lead roles in the film.
This would probably be for the titular role of ‘Dev’ who was only revealed as a silhouette in the first part.
“The first film establishes Dev’s character, who is known to be another character with huge superpowers and also wants to get the ‘Brahmastra’ to become the greatest power ever.” – Times of India.
There is also a report from Bollywood Life that Deepika Padukone will be appearing in the sequel stating that “most likely and in a fleeting glimpse in the film, Deepika Padukone could play Ranbir Kapoor’s mother which could shape the whole progression and transformation.” his character.”
Interestingly, an insider source recently told Bollywood Hungama that “It will undoubtedly be a casting coup if Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are in one film! However, it will be important to maintain that everyone has integral parts. As for their roles, Alia and Ranbir will be seen as their respective characters from Part 1 and will have stories that will run parallel to each other.”
When could Brahmastra part 2 potentially come out?
From September 10Thursday2022, the production team of Brahmastra did not say when the second part might be released, nor did they say when the shooting should theoretically start.
However, a 2018 interview with Karan Johar may give a major hint as to what the plan is for Brahmastra Part Two – Dev.
Johar explained to Mid-Day how “Ayan has been working on this film for six years” and that he will “spend the next 10 years of his life on this trilogy.”
This suggests that the original plan is for the Brahmastra trilogy to end sometime between 2027 and 2028 with the final film.
Filming on the first installment began in February 2018 and wrapped in March 2022 after a series of coronavirus-related delays forced several production shutdowns.
Based on the information that the third film could be released by 2028 and that the first film took around four years to make – this would make a tentative window for the release of the second part of Brahmastra in 2025.
Fingers crossed that the team can have a smoother production for the upcoming sequel, which will shorten the time fans have to wait for the second part of this trilogy.
