Bulldogs Drop Rough 9-1 Contest to Morgan State

BALTIMORE, MD — Coreena Dunham went 2-for-3 with a triple for the Bowie State Bulldogs in a 9-1 loss to the Morgan State Bears on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the non-conference doubleheader and season opener for BSU at the Lois T. Murray Field. 

Lindsey George (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Bowie State (0-2). Dunham led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a triple. Sydney Edmond put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.


The Bulldogs got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. BSU got an RBI single from Edmond, scoring Dunham from third base. The Bulldogs were unable to hold the lead, as Morgan State scored nine times over the remaining four innings to grab the 9-1 win.


» BSU’s highest scoring inning was the first, when it pushed one run across.

» Bowie State pitchers faced 27 Morgan State hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and six fly balls while striking out one.

» Dunham led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple.

» Morgan State was led offensively by freshman Chandler Mitchell, who went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI.

» Emily Raubuch led the Bears pitching staff, throwing four innings of one-run ball.

Looking Ahead

The Bulldogs will compete in the HBCU Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday, Feb. 16 through Sunday, Feb. 18 at Tyger River Park. The Bulldogs will take on members from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) beginning with Albany State on Friday, followed by tilts with Kentucky State and Miles on Saturday and closing out with contests versus Edward Waters and Tuskegee.
