Fast X: Rita Moreno Unveils Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto’s Grandmother

Rita Moreno has joined the cast of the upcoming Fast and Furious movie Fast X .

The 90-year-old actor will play the grandmother of Dominique Toretto, the main character of the franchise starring Vin Diesel, in the 10th installment of “The Fast and the Furious”.

Diesel shared the news of Moreno’s casting in a video message with the veteran actor and his partner Michelle Rodriguez.

“I’ve always dreamed of working with Rita Moreno and her playing my grandmother makes me smile. I’m very happy,” said Diesel, sitting between Moreno and Rodriguez.

Moreno: “You know, I think I had fun…I think my old age was waiting for you to call. Isn’t that nice? The answer is yes, I can. Yes, no I’m doing it, but I’m excited. I’m happy to do it. I’m so happy. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”

Last year, Diesel told Variety that he wanted Moreno to play his grandmother in the long-running action franchise.

Moreno joins fellow newcomers Brie Larson and Jason Momoa in a cast that also includes franchise regulars Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Sung Kang.

Louis Leterrier is directing Fast X, taking over from Justin Lin, who left the project just days after filming.

Fast X will be released worldwide on May 19, 2023.
