Flooding may close Yosemite Valley campgrounds

Yosemite National Park (KFSN) — Sustained hot weather is forcing parts of Yosemite Valley to close due to the threat of forecast flooding due to record snowfall.
Park officials announced Saturday evening that Lower and North Pine Campgrounds and the Homestead Campground will be closed on Monday, May 15.
As of May 1, Yosemite Park had more than double the average snowfall for that time of year.
Officials say the combination of warm weather and record snowfall means the Merced River is likely to remain above flood stage.
Officials say additional closures are likely.
