LINCOLN PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – For the second year in a row, the Lincoln Parish Museum is celebrating the birthday of a former U.S. President by having a birthday party complete with several themed competitions.
The Abraham Lincoln Birthday Brunch will occur on Sun., Feb. 18, from 12 p.m. until 2:12 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m., anyone who can recite the Gettysburg Address will be awarded $5 or 500 shiny pennies that feature the image of Abraham Lincoln.
Other contests during the brunch will include an Abe Lincoln costume contest and an award for the best stove pipe hat.
The Emancipation Proclamation will be read aloud at 2 p.m. in honor of Black History Month, and hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, and cake will be provided at this free, family-friendly event.
Each party guest will also receive a shiny new Lincoln–as in a penny.
Music, games, and a bounce house will also be part of the festivities. The party’s in Lincoln Parish, after all.
And yes, Lincoln Parish is named after U. S. President Abraham Lincoln.
