Whether rapper, boxer, YouTube star or entrepreneur, Olajide Olatunji has built his KSI brand into an unstoppable empire.

“JJ” Olatunji, who went by the moniker KSI after joining the popular Halo Clan as a teenager, says the moniker will only be associated with video games when he retires.

KSI stands for ‘Knowledge, Strength and Loyalty’, a combination of three words tattooed on the 29-year-old’s chest and arm.

Raised by traditional Nigerian parents, the star from Watford first burst onto the YouTube scene in 2008.

His current channel was born a year later, initially as KSIOlajideBT (the last part standing for his home broadband, British Telecom), where he began filming himself playing video games – usually FIFA.

His growing viral success began to distance him from his parents’ ambitions of becoming a doctor or lawyer.

He told The Sun in 2016: “I was between 15 and 16 when I started YouTube, but I didn’t want to tell anyone. “What r u doing? You are so strange. Why do you make videos online? »

“But I felt I could be more open on YouTube. I can do anything, be anyone.

Educated at a fee-paying school in Berkhamsted, KSI failed his A-levels as demand from YouTube increased.

“My parents are crazy,” he told Louis Theroux of the Grounded podcast in 2020. “Mom just screamed.

“I’ve never seen him scream so loud and throw drinks everywhere. My father said: “Everything we worked for was in vain.” It just overwhelmed him.

KSI’s parents tried to force him to comply by shutting down the internet and hiding his Xbox, but a conversation with his teacher convinced him to drop out of school to pursue YouTube full time.

He told the Telegraph in 2014: “I told my teacher I didn’t like school and I liked YouTube more and I was getting paid better.

“I asked the teacher, ‘Should I leave?’ I asked. He said, “How much do you make on YouTube?” he asked. i said about £1500 a month. He told me he would get less than that.

Last year, KSI had two wins in one night, opening the show by stopping Swarms and then ending the night by knocking out Pineda.

Over a decade later, KSI is a multi-millionaire with over 40 million subscribers and over 10 BILLION total views across his three YouTube channels!

He has since moved into music with 8 UK Top 10 singles and his first UK album in 2021, All Over The Place.

While he’s also 3-0 as a fighter, he fights FaZe Temperrr live on talkSPORT this weekend as Swarmz steps into the ring for the first time since knocking out Luis Alcarez Pineda last August night.

KSI is now the CEO of MisFits Boxing and continues to evolve and mature from his former YouTube personality.

So much so that she rejected OnlyFans star Astrid Wett’s kiss at the weigh-in for her October boxing win over Kiley Colbran.

“Astrid Wett tried to kiss me and I said no!” KSI joked in a YouTube video when fans asked him to address the situation.

“That head movement was in the clutch. I gave up on Astrid Wett, she’s crazy, because the old KSI would have swallowed her, she was like “yeah, finally a woman likes me!” would answer!

“Now your child has grown and matured and he’s like, ‘What are we going to do?’ Stop!'”

Another venture from KSI, who co-owns Prime Hydration energy drink with former boxing rival Logan Paul, has taken the country by storm.

The drink was very successful, very popular among their young fans, and they even sponsored KSI’s favorite football team, Arsenal.

However, KSI admitted in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT that he would sacrifice the Gunners’ place at the top of the Premier League if it meant knocking out Logan’s younger brother Jake.

“My ultimate goal is to fight Jake Paul, knock him out and end his whole journey,” KSI told Drivetime.

“I want to shut him up once and for all and show everyone what a fraud he is when it comes to the YouTube boxing scene.”

“Would you rather Arsenal win the Premier League or knock Paul out?” When asked, KSI said, “I’m knocking Jake Paul out.

“Arsenal had a lot of bad years, anyway. I may have another bad year for Arsenal. I don’t mind!”

KSI’s ventures, including being a founding member of online group The Sidemen, co-owning a chain of restaurants and a vodka brand in addition to his property portfolio, have earned him more than £15m.

Despite the fact that his young audience is not so young now, his online influence continues to explode with each new year.

He told Men’s Health: “My legacy is just being a Goat.

“I think people are looking at the years ahead and saying, ‘You know what? KSI was crazy. He started without talent. Fuck everything. He started with zero subscribers and then managed to become a guy with many numbers in music.

“Been able to fight big YouTubers and other things that people thought they would never make it. Get all these compliments. Literally nothing.

KSI added, “You know how people feel about Michael Jordan and [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Lewis Hamilton and the greats who have done so much in their careers? I want to be with them.

“It didn’t cross my mind at first. I did it just to make money and make a living. But then I kept pushing. See how far I can go.

“Now that I’m here, I’m like, ‘Well, let me go on.'”
