The Nigerian Army has announced that it will commence a distance classification exercise in Imo State. The 34th Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Obinze in Owerri, said the exercise would begin on Monday, September 5 and continue until September 9, and advised Imo residents to stay away from the firing range area throughout the exercise.

In a report made by PM Online News, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Joseph Akubo, said the exercise would involve the use of weapons and live ammunition and that civilians should avoid areas around the Small Arms Shooting Range, Obinze. Barracks, Imo State.

The exercise, which is an annual exercise, is aimed at testing military personnel’s weapon handling efficiency and marksmanship and is scheduled to begin daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Captain Joseph Akubo said: “People from Obinze town and surrounding communities are strongly advised to stay away from the Range area during the said period.
