A three-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed her four-year-old sister in an apartment in Houston, Texas on Sunday night.
The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. local time, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a news conference.
The two girls and five adults, all family and friends, were hanging out at an apartment on Bummel North Houston Road near Tomball Parkway when the shooting happened.
According to Gonzalez, the girls and their parents lived in the apartment.

The girls were left alone in the bedroom at the same time at night because one parent believed the other was watching them. Gonzalez said the three-year-old boy found a loaded gun and fired one shot, hitting his sister.
A four-year-old girl died at the scene.
Hearing the gunshots, family members entered the bedroom, secured the gun, and reported the incident to authorities.
A Texas man has been charged with kidnapping a woman and holding her captive in a trailer for 4 years.
