Watford may turn to Aston Villa’s Davis amid Forest’s interest in a Dennis deal

Watford are considering signing Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis if Nottingham Forest sign Emmanuel Dennis, according to 90min. The Reds have now contacted the Hornets to make an official bid of £20m for the striker, who excelled in the Premier League last term.

Dennis was widely expected to leave Vicarage Road during the summer after his Hertfordshire side endured relegation. Nevertheless, head coach Rob Edwards has managed to start the 24-year-old in each of Watford’s opening games of the Championship campaign.

Talks continue between Watford and Nottingham Forest as the Vicarage Road hierarchy listen to Steve Cooper’s interest in Dennis. A £20m bid is also on the table for the seven-cap Nigerian, who has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 33 top-flight appearances.

Dennis also proved to be a versatile offensive threat, splitting his minutes between the wings and center. Now the Hornets can make a significant profit, having only paid Club Brugge £3m to sign the striker last year when he agreed to a five-year deal.

Rob Edwards will be hoping to sign Keinan Davis, who shone at the City Ground

Should Watford accept Nottingham Forest’s bid for Dennis, Edwards could approach Aston Villa to press their interest in Davis’ services as a likely replacement. Steven Gerrard will allow his striker to leave Villa Park ahead of the summer sale slam on September 1.

Edwards had hoped to get striker Cooper trained last term after Davis helped fire Nottingham Forest to a place in the play-offs. The 24-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at the City Ground, contributing five goals and two assists in 18 appearances.

Davis also bagged one assist as the Reds reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, contributing to a 4–1 win over Leicester City. While George Elek hailed his form as “unbelievable” in his masterful performances, via Nottinghamshire Live quotes, he offered Cooper a “direct” threat.

His efforts at the City Ground were so impressive that The Telegraph reported that Nottingham Forest approached Aston Villa earlier in the window to discuss a potential permanent move for Davis. But Cooper and Gerrard’s sides failed to agree terms.
