Alhaji Yabagi Sani, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), has doubts that ministers are giving President Muhammadu Buhari accurate information on the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff University (ASUU).

The ASUU strike has been going on for seven months and shows no signs of letting up.

In an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Sani called on the Federal Government to find a solution.

He said: “People say that because the children of the elites are not enrolled in public schools, that is why they are gambling with the future of the nation as a whole. This goal cannot be achieved until bandits are a problem and this country gets the education it needs to catch up with its peers.

You, Mr. President, are the one who won. I have doubts about the truth of what these ministers are telling the president. A few weeks ago, Mr. President issued a similar directive to the Minister of Education, asking her to resolve the issue and report back to him as soon as possible. A few days later, the Minister of Education said that the President had never given him such an instruction.

I have no doubt that President Obama cares deeply about improving schools for our children. It is as if we are either oblivious to the importance of education or, if we are aware of it, play with it because it does not directly concern us.
