Jack Grealish and Erling Holland are fast establishing themselves as Manchester City’s new bromance, but their team-mates aren’t always reaping the benefits.
The duo jokingly presented Ruben Diaz with an Oscar for Biggest Swindle in the City.
Speaking in the video, Grealish said: “This award goes to Ruben Diaz for the biggest cheat. He goes to the gym four times a day, but you never see anything.
“Remember when we played (Borussia) Dortmund a few years ago, this man killed him,” before panning to Haaland.
The prolific striker then added: ‘Yeah, he’s in the gym all the time and the results… where are the results?!
Of course, the game in question was the 2020/21 Champions League clash between Dortmund and Man City, where then-Dortmund star Haaland knocked Dias off the ball before creating a chance for his teammate.
As well as showing Pep Guardiola’s easy-going culture, it also shows how quickly Haaland and Grealish have struck up a friendship.
Grealish, who joined the club in 2021 for £100million, is joined by Haaland, who joined City in a blockbuster deal last summer.
Since then, the Norwegian striker has made 35 appearances for City and scored 34 goals, proving to be the Premier League’s most prolific striker in years.
For Grealish, Haaland’s arrival brought out the best in him.
The England star, who scored three goals and provided three assists in the Premier League last season, surpassed that mark this season with three goals and four assists in just 21 appearances.
The hope for both players is that they can use their fledgling enthusiasm to help City win another Premier League title, but if they are to do so they will need to overturn the five-point lead currently held by Arsenal.
