Jogi is an upcoming Hindi drama directed by Ali Abbas Zafar (Sultan, Bharat and Tiger Zinda Hai) under the banner of AAZ Films.

The film will tell the story of a community torn apart by the anti-Sikh riots that ravaged India in 1984. As noted by Gadgets360, the film is “a fictionalized biopic of sorts that depicts the horrors of the 1984 anti-Sikh protests in Delhi.”

Fortunately, Jogi is not alone; They are joined by police officer Rawinder Chautala and friend Kaleem, both of whom must try to keep the plan a secret while avoiding the troublemakers at all costs.

“Amidst the tensions of 1980s India, three friends of different faiths come together in a noble but dangerous effort to save hundreds of people in their town.” – Yogi synopsis, via Netflix.

In an interview with Telegraph India, director Ali Abbas Zafar explained that “The sole purpose of making this film was to get the right emotions out of yourself.

“When you’re telling a story that basically depends on presenting different kinds of emotions on different levels, that’s authenticity, that’s the core you want to evoke in your audience.” – Ali Abbas Zafar, via Telegraph India.
