Kanye West recently took to social media to criticize Gap for excluding him from meetings and copying designs.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Kanye West accused Gap of ripping off his Balenciaga designs

Kanye West, who now performs under Ye, claimed that Gap executives allegedly held a meeting about his designs excluding him.

On Tuesday, Aug. 30, he shared a photo of the ripped outfit and sunglasses with the brand’s rainbow shield on his Instagram handle.

The Grammy Award-winning artist captioned the post, which read: ‘Gap had a meeting about me without me?’

Furthermore, a day later, Ye came out with a claim that the retail giant is copying his Yeezy Gap collection in collaboration with Balenciaga. He added that Gap reportedly uses his designs on their regular T-shirts.

Ye shared a text exchange where he accused the organization of copying his designs. He also included images of the allegedly stolen design.

In one of his messages he wrote: ‘This is a loophole copying YGEBB.’

In addition, he later mentioned that Gap had canceled a children’s fashion shoot in Japan without his knowledge.

He claimed: ‘But they canceled a photo shoot with my kids in Japan without my knowledge.’

Kanye West gives a lecture to Gap executives

Kanye West shared the video on social media on August 31. Turns out he went to Gap managers in Atlanta.

In the video, we can see the famous singer having a spirited conversation with a group of people and then threatening to leave the brand if things don’t go his way.

Ye began his speech by explaining his vision for working with Gap.

He said, “We have to have the highest energy brand in the mall.”

The Chicago rapper-producer then issued an ultimatum to Gap executives while pleading for his creative freedom.

He continued: ‘I love Gap…you really have to give me a position to be Ye and let me do what I think or I have to think somewhere else.’

Plus, when Gap executives started clapping and believing Ye’s speech was over, he wasn’t.

He warned: “Don’t clap… everyone will make me quit.”

Regardless, the leaders thought it was a joke and laughed. However, the 45-year-old rapper became aggressive.

He concluded by saying, “No, it’s not a fucking joke in the name of Virgil, in the name of my mother. I tell you what it is.’
