Kate McKinnon recently sat down with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest for an episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan via ET.

During the interview, the actress shared the real reason why she left Saturday Night Live after being on the show for almost a decade.

She said her decision to leave the show was not an easy one.

McKinnon mentioned during the interview, “I thought about it for a very long time and it was very, very difficult.”

She went on to add, “All I ever wanted to do in my whole life was be on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ So I did it, I loved it, I had the best decade and then I was like, my body was tired and I think it’s time.”

Additionally, McKinnon also revealed that she won’t be watching Saturday Night Live just yet, even though her future in the industry remains uncertain.

She said: ‘I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t know if I can watch the show anymore because it’s too emo because I miss everyone so much.’

The 38-year-old comedian has developed friendships with her cast members, so she’s unsure about watching the show despite the emotions it can bring.

She continued: “It’s my family. It’s too emo. So I think I’ll pick up ‘The Bachelorette’ and watch it.

Kate McKinnon joined Saturday Night Live in 2012. She has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

In addition, he is competing for the title for the third time. McKinnon is nominated for the 74th Emmy Awards, which are set to take place on September 12.

McKinnon is recognized for her portrayals of Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Justin Bieber, Lindsey Graham and Ellen DeGeneres.

In May of this year, rumors began to circulate that McKinnon would not be joining the legendary sketch series for its 48th season. The news was later confirmed by the actress herself when she announced her exit from the show.

McKinnon said goodbye with the final episode of season 47. She left the long-running series along with fellow cast members Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson.
