Maneskin’s Performance Censored At The Mtv Vmas 2022, Justice For Maneskin Trends On Twitter
Italian glam rock band Maneskin made their debut at the MTV VMAs on August 28. At the awards ceremony, the band played a high-energy version of their famous song called Supermodelka. Frontman Damiano David donned backless chaps for the performance that exposed his back. He also put on a leather thong. Bassist Victoria De Angelis wore a black dress along with a bag that came off during their set. As photos from the occasion suggest, Victoria De Angelis moved to the front of the stage as a crowd of dancers surrounded the group.
The performance included jumping and dancing, which probably caused a wardrobe malfunction. Regardless, the 22-year-old pressed on. However, what frustrated fans was how MTV continued to switch to widescreen shots of the scene during Maneskin’s performance. One disappointed fan pointed out that the band had the most interesting set, but MTV allegedly censored it. Following the censorship, many fans took to social media to express their displeasure, promoting “Justice for Maneskin” on the social media platform Twitter.
Justice For Maneskin Trends On Twitter As Fans Slam MTV For Censoring Band’s Iconic 2022 VMAs Performance
The MTV Video Music Awards were packed with amazing and stunning moments, including a standout performance by Italian rock band Måneskin. In any case, Maneskin fans were exceptionally outraged by the way MTV decided to air, or rather not air, their performance. Throughout their performance, the camera panned away from the stage to the empty back seats at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, where the VMAs were held, instead of focusing on Måneskin.
I can’t believe Maneskin has the most exciting set of the whole thing #vmas & MTV censored the whole damn set!!!! Justice for Maneskin!!!

At the time, the official MTV News Twitter account posted a GIF from the performance with the message: “We see you @thisismaneskin! #VMAs, fans shared their irritation and confusion in the responses. One fan said: ‘Did he know? No one watching did. What the hell was that?? while another echoed his sentiment, saying: “I’m angry! I waited all this time and they were on for a few moments and barely on the screen? Many individuals did not see the reason why MTV kept cutting the band Måneskin, believing it was censorship of the scandalous outfit of lead singer Damian David, who wore leather boots and a black thong. Still, it was probably an unexpected wardrobe malfunction that prompted the bizarre camera choice.
justice for #Mannequin !! let’s release the nipples so they can be seen! a man without a shirt and ass is fine, female breasts are censored! fucking misogynists! #VMAs #VMAs pic.twitter.com/mXeKZE25N5

Måneskin’s bassist Victoria De Angelis wore a black one-shoulder Gucci outfit that left one of the bassist’s breasts exposed, but covered in silver paste. After they started playing their song titled ‘Supermodel’, Victoria De Angelis’ top appeared to fall off her shoulder, revealing her other breast, which was not wearing a paste. Victoria De Angelis continued to play and support her band through shows, however the MTV cut showed an irregular shot of the stadium in the arena to avoid airing the wardrobe malfunction and barely showing any of Måneskin’s actual stage. After hearing what happened, many fans were concerned and pointed out that MTV may have focused the camera on others in the show rather than Victoria De Angelis.
Justice for @thisismaneskin @MTV they have to do something they censored it’s ok vic had a problem with the clothes but it was just about fixing the clothes and everything was fine. No need to cut the entire presentation. #VMAs #VoteManeskinVMAs pic.twitter.com/Bh21mzph1c
