Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) collapsed at a Washington hotel and was hospitalized, his spokesman said late Wednesday.
“Chef McConnell checked into a local hotel this evening while having a private dinner. He was hospitalized where he is being treated,” McConnell spokesman David Popp said in a statement.
Popp did not provide additional information about McConnell’s condition.
McConnell, 81, is serving his seventh term in the US Senate after taking office in 1984.
The former Senate Majority Leader was stuck at his Kentucky home in 2019 after he underwent surgery to repair a broken shoulder.
