U.S. Senate candidate Barbara Lee (D-CA), who is running to fill the seat recently vacated by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), said on MSNBC’s “Deadline” Thursday that she is suing former President Donald Trump. was “in the interest of the country”.

Lee said: “The bottom line, of course, in our court is that President Trump is not immune from what he did that day, what he said, what he did against the insurgents, the coup plotters. It was a coup d’état to the Capitol, to our democracy, the Proud Sons, the Oath Takers. It is important that we correct the wrong. We should try to wear gas masks again. We were told to touch the ground. We were barely out of the rooms before they entered. It was a dangerous time not only for individual members of Congress and our plaintiffs, but for our democracy.
He continued: “Donald Trump is not above the law. In this test, we are currently waiting for the solution of the DC circuit, but it is very important to talk about the correction of the error that it created. Not only for ourselves, but for our democracy.
Lee added: “We will continue to work until we win this lawsuit. I think it’s in the country’s best interest to see members of Congress and individuals with the ability to continue this fight until justice is served.
