NBC Chicago’s morning team, NBC 5 News TODAY, will focus on local Chicago suburbs in a new “Morning Blend” series starting this week.

Throughout the year, the morning crew visits coffee shops and breakfast joints in various neighborhoods and suburbs to meet viewers in person, hear their stories, and better understand their communities.

News anchor JC Navarrete will kick off the first Morning Blend event on April 28 at Endiro Coffee, 29 W. New York St. in downtown Aurora.

Morning viewers are invited to stop by between 7 and 8 a.m. for a free coffee

Endorsed by the Illinois Tourism Office, Endiro Coffee is a wood-to-cup coffee that starts with coffee grown in Uganda and then roasted in Aurora. The cafe said it works to create an inclusive space and meet the needs of the community.

Endiro Coffee has partnered with Indivisible Aurora to help feed needy families through a “community fridge” program. Inside the cafe, locals will find powerful art displays from Mutual Ground, a company that supports survivors of sexual violence. Endiro Coffee is an integral part of the Aurora community, changing coffee drinks one step at a time.

NBC 5 News TODAY bilingual reporter Navarrete works with news anchor Michelle Relerford, traffic reporter Kai Martin and NBC 5 Storm Team meteorologist Alicia Roman weekdays from 4-7 a.m.
