Nick Mallett responds to Rassie’s Erasmus rant

In an incident that rocked South African rugby last month, Rassie said he could not sleep after hearing criticism from Erasmus Mallett on a pundit talk show.

After a long absence from social media, Rassie took to Twitter in the early hours to blast Mallett over comments made on an episode of the SuperSport talk show, Final whistle.

Sunday newspaper Reporting further revealed that Mallett woke up that morning to find the director of rugby had sent him a WhatsApp message at 3.32am. However, this post was deleted before Mallett could see it. The former Springbok coach confirmed Reporting He said he had received the deleted message from Erasmus, but declined to comment further on the incident at the time.

In the final parts of her voicemail, Rassie told Mallett, “I’m going to send you some statistics to tell you the (truth) because you can’t tell people about it.”

As he wrote in his last column Sport24Mallett summarizes his view and points out that Erasmus recently sent him some report.

“As a pundit and writer, it’s my duty to express my opinion, and while it’s been clear in recent weeks that I’ve disagreed with Springbok rugby manager Rassie Erasmus over his use of social media, I have to give him credit wherever he goes. it should.

Rassie and Mallett seem to be on the mend

Mallett praised this decision as a smart move by Erasmus.

“Bringing in Owens would really be a win-win situation for the Boxers, who have been on the wrong side of big refereeing decisions for some time now,” Mallett wrote.

“Rassey recently shared with me a report that showed Australia should have been penalized 12 more times after beating the Boks 25-17 in Adelaide last year. That’s a lot of penalties, and it happened too often in South Africa. Officiating hurt the Boks in the end-of-year tour against Ireland and France, so it’s smart to introduce someone like Owens to help the players in that department.
