Overturned car found in Aurora Pond, 1 dead – NBC Chicago

Aurora police are investigating after a car with a man inside was found in a body of water.
Aurora police responded to the incident at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near South Eola Road and Autumn Grove Court, officials said. Arriving at the scene, police officers drowned the car with the driver in the pond of the residential complex.
Photos and videos taken from the scene show the overturned car almost completely submerged in freezing water.
“The rescuers went into the water and took the person out,” the authorities said. Crews also worked to lift the vehicle from the pond.
The driver was later taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said. No other information about the individual has been released.
Officials say the incident is under investigation.
