Newcastle United want Joao Pedro and appear to be still pushing amid confusion over Watford’s decision to reject a bid.

The Magpies are chasing a new offensive threat and their goals follow a similar theme.

Benjamin Sesko, Sekou Mara and Hugo Ekitike have all been on Newcastle’s radar and are all exciting young strikers with huge potential.

Callum Wilson and Chris Wood are both experienced Premier League strikers, so adding promising talent around them makes sense.

Newcastle United want Joao Pedro

Newcastle have made Watford striker Joao Pedro one of their top targets this summer.

UOL Esporte in Brazil report that Newcastle’s first offer was worth £17m but that was rejected and the Magpies will return with a new offer of £20m.

adds Fabrizio Romano that the offer will actually be £20m plus £3m in add-ons as Newcastle try to force Watford to a deal.

The Chronicle also report that Joao Pedro has been left “frustrated” by Watford’s attitude.

Joao Pedro reportedly wants to play with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle and hopes the Hornets will let him leave.

The Brazilian forward’s representatives are understood to be ‘confused’ by Watford’s decision to reject Newcastle’s first bid.

Newcastle will continue to push but Watford are seemingly chasing a bigger fee if they are to let the youngster leave.

Joao Pedro, 20, is regarded as a hugely exciting attacking threat but managed just three goals in 28 Premier League appearances last season.

It would certainly be a forward-looking signing for Newcastle, with the belief that they can unlock Joao Pedro’s potential in the coming years.

Watford have sold Emmanuel Dennis to Nottingham Forest, while Ismaila Sarr is attracting interest from Leeds United and Crystal Palace.

Selling three strikers in such a short space of time is far from ideal, which is perhaps why Watford are so firmly in Newcastle’s way right now.
