Sam Tomkins: The England captain will retire at the end of the Super League season

Catalan defender and England captain Sam Tomkins will retire from rugby league at the end of the 2023 season.

The 33-year-old says a persistent left knee problem has influenced his decision and he will play an off-field role for the Dragons.

Tomkins won the Super League Man of Steel in 2012 and 2021.

He also made two World Cup appearances for England, leading his country to the semi-finals of the final tournament last autumn.
