San Mateo County, California, mass shooting

A shooting in Oakland, Calif., left one person dead and seven others injured Monday night, police said, the third mass shooting in the state in three days.

What happened in Auckland: Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of MacArthur Boulevard just after 6 p.m. to investigate an alert from a ShotSpotter device, a gunshot detection technology, the Oakland Police Department said in a statement.

Officers arrived at the scene and found “several bullet casings” but no injuries, the report said. During the investigation, the police learned that there was a shooting between several people.

Several hospitals then began reporting to police that they had received several patients with gunshot wounds who were self-transported to the facilities for treatment.

According to the police, the condition of seven injured people is stable. The name of the deceased victim is pending family notification, they added.

Third mass shooting: Hours earlier, seven people were killed and one seriously injured in shootings at two locations in Half Moon Bay, about 40 miles southwest of Oakland, officials said. The 67-year-old suspect is in custody.

And in Southern California, 11 people were killed in a mass shooting in Monterey Park on Saturday night.
