All at once was the big winner at the 95th Academy Awards, taking home seven awards and winning three out of four awards for Best Actor, Best Director and Best Picture.
Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film, becoming the second Asian to do so and the first Vietnamese to win an Oscar. Co-star Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting Actress 60 years after her mother Janet Lee was nominated for her role in Psycho.
The film’s star, veteran action star Michelle Yeoh, became the first Asian woman to win Best Actress. “To all the little boys and girls like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibility,” Yeh said as he held up the statue.
“And ladies,” added the 60-year-old Malaysian-born actor, “don’t let anyone tell you that your life is over.”
In the Best Actor category, Brendan Fraser capped off his Hollywood comeback with a win for his role in The Whale, giving an impressive speech and rounding off the awards season.
