Sergio Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after losing time to Max Verstappen

Sergio Perez rounded off the weekend with a clinical win at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where he also won the sprint race, while teammate Max Verstappen finished second.

Red Bull have been so dominant this season that any battle for the world championship seems to be within the team, and Perez’s clean sweep at the weekend significantly contributed to Verstappen’s advantage, cutting the Dutchman’s championship lead to six points.

Despite both trailing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc on pole, first Verstappen and then Perez passed the Monegasque driver in the opening laps.

Verstappen looked like he might just take the win, but he lost time to his teammate while pitting during the safety car and it was Perez who took the win. Leclerc finished third, his first podium of the season.
