The IMV adds more than 523,486 households in October alone: this is the reason

It looks like the bus Minimum Vital Income which has been touring Spain since the middle of this month of October, is beginning to show its first results. At least this has just been confirmed by a statement published by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, led by Jose Luis Escrivadetailing that this non-contributory benefit has reached 523,486 households in which 1,453,773 people live until the month of October, an aid from the Government that is having a special impact on the child poverty reductionsince 42.5% of the total number of beneficiaries are minors (618,762).

In addition, it is added that in 64% of households where the Minimum Vital Income arrives there is at least one minor (338,373), according to statistics published by the National Social Security Institute (INSS). Precisely in this sense, the number of benefits with the Complement of Aid for Children (CAPI), which the Executive introduced at the end of last year through the Law 19/2021, of December 20, which establishes the Minimum Vital Incomeare already 284,104.

CAPI is a aid of 100 euros per household per month in the case of a childs from 0 to 3 years; 70 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years old; and 50 euros per month for each minor between 6 and 18 years of age. On the other hand, according to these data, two out of three households the holder of the benefit is a woman and, if the total number of beneficiaries is taken into account, 54% are women (792,256), add the same sources.

New identification system to request the IMV

Another important point to take into account is that Social Security has added a new functionality to the electronic form for applications for the Minimum Vital Income for the verification of both the identity of the interested party or the legal representative. This new facial recognition system allows to recognize an image of the applicant’s face, showing the front face of your identification document (DNI or NIE), which must be captured at the time of the request. In addition, you must include a Email address whose validity is checked online by the system.

The IMV bus looking for potential beneficiaries

According to what was studied by the Ministry of Social Security, the lack of information and the bureaucracy leave hundreds of thousands of potential beneficiaries out of the IMV. The public body has launched a bus that will travel around the country until March of next year so that citizens can learn about the aid, which ranges between 491 and 1,081 euros depending on the configuration of the family home, and can request it.

New amounts for 2023

The General State Budgets for the next year forecast an increase of 13.3% of the items to protect the most vulnerable and broaden the base of IMV recipients, which in the two and a half years it has been in force has reached 510,000 households and more than 1.4 million people. To do this, the PGE contemplate a rise of, at least, 8.5% of the IMV amounts, in line with the rise in pensions and non-contributory benefits. However, the minister, José Luis Escrivá, assured that this figure could be even higher, in the case of the lowest pensions and of the recipients of this aid aimed at avoiding the risk of poverty and preventing social exclusion.
