The Mega Millions jackpot is now $1.1 billion

(NEXSTAR) – After yet another drawing with no top prize winners, the Mega Millions jackpot has officially entered billion-dollar territory.

No ticket holder matched all six winning numbers — 3, 20, 46, 59, 63 and Mega Ball 13 — meaning Friday’s $940 million jackpot grew by $1.1 billion before Tuesday’s drawing.

Tuesday’s jackpot is third behind October 2018’s $1.537 billion jackpot and July 2022’s $1.337 billion prize.

“Mega Millions has hit $1 billion again,” Ohio Lottery Director and Mega Millions Consortium Senior Director Pat McDonald said in a press release Saturday morning. “It’s great to see the jackpot increase over the holidays and into the New Year.”

Mega Millions hasn’t won the jackpot since October 2022, when two ticket holders in California and Florida matched all six numbers to split the $502 million prize. However, there were 52 winners of the second-tier prize, worth $1 million or more. According to Mega Millions, Friday’s drawing alone produced five million dollar winners, including two in New York, one in Florida, one in Maryland and one in New Jersey.

The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 10.
