Tottenham star has ‘practically confirmed’ starring World Cup role as Arsenal star faces snub
Richarlison looks to be at the World Cup with Brazil and the Tottenham Hotspur star may now have secured a starring role.
Brazil were in action on Wednesday night when they took on Tunisia in a friendly.
It was Brazil’s last match before leaving for the World Cup in Qatar in November.
Brazil were unsurprisingly dominant, taking a 4-1 lead thanks to a Raphinh strike as well as goals from Richarlison and Neymar.
Pedro added a fifth in the second half to secure a comprehensive victory for Brazil as attention now turns to the first match of the World Cup group stage against Serbia.
Richarlison looks set for World Cup with Brazil
It was another great night for Richarlison, who now boasts 16 goals in 37 appearances for Brazil; very impressive record.
Richarlison’s goal against Tunisia was impressive, breaking the Tunisian offside trap and rattling in Raphinh’s pass.
The 25-year-old seems to have taken himself to another level since joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and Brazil is reaping the rewards.
UOL Esporte now suggest that Richarlison “made the most” of this latest trial and “virtually confirmed” that he will be Brazil’s starting striker at the World Cup.
This is great for Richarlison and also great for Tottenham as the summer signing will now be given a huge role on the biggest stage.
This is also terrible news for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel Jesus left Manchester City for Arsenal in the summer, seemingly looking to play a starring role to further his Brazilian career.
Although Gabriel Jesus has been superb for Arsenal, he was not even in Brazil’s squad for this international break and looks set to feature at the World Cup.
Gabriel Jesus will now have to sit and kick as north London rival Richarlison seemingly leads the way for Brazil, although the Gunners will argue that a fresh Gabriel Jesus for the second half of the season would be a dream for them.
