Trump sat down with CNN in a New Hampshire town hall

Former President Donald Trump will meet with CNN next week for an event at City Hall in New Hampshire, the network announced Monday.
Trump, who often criticizes CNN as “fake news,” will appear on the network for the first time since 2016.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins will be at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire on May 10. The Town Hall will air online at 9:00 PM EST.
Trump’s appearance on CNN is part of a plan to expand his message to a wider audience, it said politics.
as politics in detail:
The former president and his team have re-engaged the mainstream press after shunning them. They were in talks with several other prominent agencies, including NBC. He also invited a number of mainstream media reporters to accompany him to campaign events and to fly on his plane afterwards.
Those in the former president’s orbit believe he can expand Trump’s message by giving interviews and access to the mainstream media, and contrast with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has been seen as closed to the mainstream media when it comes to interviews with conservatives.
However, Trump’s appearance on CNN was also a clear blow to conservative cable outlet Fox News, which recently parted ways with Tucker Carlson.
Last month, the Republican National Committee announced that Fox News would host the first Republican presidential debate, which caught Trump by surprise.
Trump said on Truth Social last week:
I see everyone talking about the Republican debates, but no one has gotten my or the Trump campaign’s endorsement before posting them. When you are ahead with seemingly insurmountable numbers and have angry anchors, TRUMP and MAGA hostile networks that hate asking “questions”, why subject yourself to slander and abuse? Meanwhile, the second debate will be held at the Reagan Library, whose president, ironically, is Fred Ryan, publisher of the Washington Post. NO!
Trump has not attended a town hall event since late 2020, when he sat down with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie.
