The sins of our mother case examined

Sins of Our Mother arrived on Netflix on Wednesday, September 15, 2022.

The three-episode series tells the story of Lori and the disappearance of her two children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, in 2019.

Tylee, who was Lori’s 16-year-old biological daughter with her ex-husband Joseph Ryan, was last seen on September 8, 2019, after she and her family visited Yellowstone National Park, according to USA Today.

Later that month, 7-year-old Joshua Jackson “JJ” Vallow, who Lori and her late ex-husband Charles Vallow adopted, was last seen at Rexburg’s Kennedy Elementary School in Idaho on September 23 before his mother called the school to check out. saying that she will be homeschooled in the future, according to reports from KSL News.

In November 2019, after concerns began to grow about the children’s whereabouts and well-being, police interviewed Lori and her new husband Chad, claiming that JJ had stayed with family in Arizona.

Alarm bells were raised when police contacted said relative and were told that JJ was not staying while Lori and Chad suddenly left their homes in Rexburg, Idaho.

In February 2020, Lori was arrested in Hawaii and charged with desertion and failure to support her dependent children.

However, the case took a sinister turn when the remains of Tylee and JJ were discovered in Chad’s home in June 2020, according to the East Idaho News.

The many layers of this case are further complicated by the fact that Lori and Chad’s ex-husbands, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, died shortly before their November 2019 wedding.
