Halloween Ends: Release Date and Plot Preview

Director David Gordon Green burst onto the scene in 2018 with his Halloween reboot. Building on John Carpenter’s slasher legacy, Green adapted the franchise as a direct sequel to the 1978 original. The films follows the infamous finale girl Laurie Strode as she must hide and fight her way through her hometown to escape masked killer Michael Myers.

More than thirty years after the original, Laurie is all grown up and ready to fight. Halloween Ends picks up a few years after the Halloween Kills sequel. In the final scenes of Halloween Kills, Michael stabs Lauriia’s daughter Karen and runs away, his fate unknown until we meet him again in Halloween Ends.

The town of Haddonfield has barely recovered from Myers’ killing spree, with many locals paranoid and traumatized by the masked man. Hiding in the sewers beneath the city, Michael gathers his strength and prepares for his final showdown with Laurie.

Halloween Ends was released in theaters on October 14, 2022, and is available to stream on Peacock from the same day.

Where was Halloween Ends filmed?

Originally, Halloween Ends was slated to be filmed in the same location as the previous films Halloween and Halloween Kills. Both of these functions were held in South Carolina and Wilmington, North Carolina. Although production plans have been altered due to delays and the COVID-19 pandemic, Decider reports.

When the production team decided to shoot in Georgia instead, they kept the work in line with their locations. Sharp-eyed viewers will notice subtle differences in this new Haddonfield. Many of the city and house shots were shot in Savannah, a classic filming location. Over eight hundred movies have been shot in Savannah, the most notable of which is Forrest Gump.

The sewer pipe footage and scenes from Michael Myers’ hideout were filmed in the small town of Sylvania, Georgia. ReadySteadyCut reports that some scenes were filmed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Illinois is where John Carpenter’s original Halloween was filmed, so this location is extremely appropriate. It is also home to many other great horror works such as Hereditary and Yellowstone.
